Amanda provides assessment, treatment and counseling services across a broad range of areas, including:

  • Anxiety and panic

  • Depression

  • Sleep problems

  • Parenting issues

  • Stress, conflict and tension

  • Anger management

  • Adjusting to change

  • Grief and loss

Sessions involve different approaches, depending on the issues you are facing. The initial session involves assessment of the presenting issues and agreement on the focus for future sessions.

Other sessions may include:

  • Understanding how your thoughts can influence your behaviour

  • Exploring the effect of the past on your current problem

  • Learning to manage difficult emotions

  • Understanding how current & past relationships can impact on your life

  • Learning about the importance of your beliefs and values on your self perception

  • Assertive communication skills training

  • Problem solving skills training

  • Stress management skills training

FEES

The standard fee is $190 per 50 minute session (current as at 1 July 2025). 

Reduced rates are available, by negotiation, for people with low incomes or who are currently on a government pension. Individual circumstances can be discussed during the initial phone conversation.

Please note that payment is to be made on the day of consultation. We accept cash, Mastercard, Visa, and eftpos transactions.

A CANCELLATION FEE WILL APPLY FOR FAILED ATTENDANCES AND CANCELLATIONS WITH LESS THAN 24 HOURS NOTICE.

MEDICARE AND PRIVATE HEALTH FUNDS

As part of the Medicare Better Access to Mental Health Care Initiative, Amanda is registered to provide subsidised therapy for patients who have been identified by a GP or Psychiatrist as having a chronic condition, with psychological and/or behavioural features, and for whom a Mental Health Care Plan has been devised. Clinical psychology services provided under this initiative attract a rebate of up to $141.85 (current as at 1 July 2024) per session, for a maximum of 6 to 10 sessions per calendar year.

The Medicare rebate can be reimbursed directly back to your cheque or savings account on the day of your appointment.

If you are not eligible for the Medicare rebate you may be able to claim through your Private Health Care Fund depending on which fund you’re with and what level of care your membership entitles you to.
